Kick Command Help & Examples (CS2/CS:GO)
If you’d like to learn how to kick someone in CSGO or CS2, you need to use the kick command. It will allow you to expulse any user you choose from the match, be it casual or competitive. Hence, it’s one of the most useful commands you can use when administering your private server.
On this page, we are going to let you know what this command is and how it works, how you can use the kick command and bring you real examples on how it’s implemented in the game.
What is the Kick Command?
It’s one of the most important commands for administering your own server or moderating matches. The result of the execution of the command will depend on one variable: admin rights.
When it is executed by a server host or admin, the command will result in the immediate expulsion of the player. Whereas when it’s executed by a regular player, for example in a competitive match, it won’t be able to execute and you’ll have to call a vote.
This is why it’s important to mention that the command kick and the command callvote kick aren’t the same. The first one is for server hosts and admins to immediately kick a player from the match, whereas the second one calls for a vote to kick a player.
This command doesn’t require you to activate sv_cheats 1, and it can be used by everyone in the match. It’s available on CS:GO and CS2, as it’s a fundamental tool for moderating matches and servers.
How to Use the Kick Command
If you want to execute the kick command, here’s how you can do it in 5 steps:
- Press the key “~” to launch the console
- Type in the command kick #
- Press enter
You need to replace “#” with the username of the player you want to kick. Upon clicking enter, the command will execute automatically, and it will kick the user right away.
The command will expel the player immediately if you’re running your own server or if you have admin rights. Because the kick command is only available for the server hosts or admins.
If you don’t have admin rights, you can only call for a vote to kick players from your own team. Therefore, if you were wondering if it was possible to kick enemy players, the answer is yes, if you have admin rights. If it’s not the case, it’s not possible.
When it comes to calling for a vote to kick a player, you need to use another command known as “votecall”. You can learn more about it on the page dedicated to this command on CSDB.gg.
How to Enable the Developer Console to Use the Kick Command
It’s also important to mention that you need to activate the developer console to be able to execute this command. In case you haven’t enabled it yet, here’s how you can do it:
- Launch CS2/CSGO
- Go to the game settings
- Find the “Game” tab
- Find “Enable Developer Console”
- Click on “Yes” to enable the developer console
- Save the settings
After saving the settings, you can immediately use the kick command as you please. Simply press the key “~” to launch it and input the command as you please.
Now that you know how to use the command, let’s check some examples on how it’s implemented in the game.
Examples on How to Use the Kick Command
Here you have 6 examples on how you can implement the kick command under different circumstances.
Kick a User Immediately
If you want to kick a user immediately, simply take note of its username and execute the command. For example, if its username is “ImperiumXX”, you’ll have to input the command like this: kick ImperiumXX.
All you need to do is to add their username and the command will expel them from the server immediately.
Kick Multiple Users
If you need to kick multiple users, unfortunately there’s no shortcut. You will have to execute the command once at a time. For example, let’s suppose you want to kick the following toxic players from your match:
- snIper99
- s4ssboom
- travoltaguns
You’d need to launch the console by clicking “~”, and then you’d need to enter the following commands one by one:
- kick snIper99
- kick s4ssboom
- kick travoltaguns
Automatically, the users will be expelled from your server and you don’t have to do anything else. All you need to do is to use the command as many times as needed and it will execute without restrictions.
Kick An Enemy Player
If someone from the opposing team is causing trouble in your game, you can instantly kick it even if it’s not your teammate. As long as you have admin rights, all you need to do is to input the command kick + the name of the enemy player you want to kick.
For instance, if the enemy player is called “smogontrudes”, you’d need to input the command like this: kick smogontrudes. This will instantly expel the said user from your match.
However, we suggest issuing 2-3 warnings before proceeding with the kick. This is because kicking a player can disrupt the flow of the game, leaving the opposing team with one member less.
Kick Yourself From Your Own Server
It’s not possible to kick yourself from your own server by using the kick command alone. As you will have to use the command “callvote kick” + the 2 numbers attached to your username. Therefore, it’s beyond the scope of this article, and you can refer to our page about how to kick yourself on CSGO for more information about it.
In this case, the majority of users would have to vote “yes” so you can get kicked from the match. It’s also important to remember that only your teammates can vote for it.
For example, if your username is “rebelrebel2001” and you use the command kick rebelrebel2001 in the console, it won’t execute. This is why you need to use the command callvote kick.
Kick Players in Competitive Matches
If you own the server, you can kick players in competitive matches as the admin. All you need to do is to type in the command kick + the username of the player you want to kick. For example, if it’s “manecrazy”, the command would look like this: kick manecrazy.
However, if you’re playing competitive, we recommend you to consider the kick command as a last resort. Because it will affect the normal flow and mechanics of the game.
Kick Players in Casual Matches
If you are hosting a casual match and you want to kick one or more toxic players, all you need to do is to type in the command “kick” + the username of the player(s) you want to expel from your game.
For example, if the username is “headshotpumpkin”, you’d need to input the command like this: kick headshotpumpkin. Then, just press enter and the command will execute immediately, successfully kicking the player from your match.
