Molotov in CS2: How It Plays
The molotov's job is to make positions untenable: 40 damage per second means nobody stands in fire, so a $400 throw reliably moves a defender off the exact angle your entry needs cleared. Standard T-side usage is scripted into every execute — molly the close corner, molly the default AWP spot, then swing knowing those positions are empty.
Fire also buys time and information. A molotov into a chokepoint delays a rotation or retake for its burn duration, and an enemy smoke thrown to extinguish it tells you exactly one smoke is now gone from their execute kit. The CT version, the Incendiary Grenade, does the same job for $200 more with a faster flight.
