RANKS & RATINGS

CS2 Premier Ranks & CS Rating

Premier replaces badges with a number — your CS Rating. Here's every colour tier, what the ranges mean, and where your rating puts you against everyone else.

Bands run grey (0–4,999) up to gold (30,000+).

All CS Rating tiers

Valve gives the bands no official names — the community goes by colour. Valve publishes no official distribution; shares below come from Leetify match data aggregated by Esports Tales (Season 4 snapshot, March 2026) and are refreshed as each seasonal snapshot publishes.

How CS Rating works

You unlock a CS Rating by winning 10 Premier placement matches. From then on every match moves the number: wins add, losses subtract, and the size of the swing scales with the rating gap between the teams and the scoreline. Ratings are displayed openly — on the scoreboard, in match-found screens and on regional leaderboards once you crack the gold band. Premier also runs a pick-ban map veto, which is why many players treat it as the "serious" queue and keep Competitive skill groups for single-map practice.

There is no official mapping between Premier ratings and the old skill groups — the two ladders measure different pools. For per-map badges see our rank distribution page, or check Faceit levels if you play third-party.

Premier season dates

Premier runs in seasons. At each boundary ratings are recalibrated, a reduced set of placement matches re-establishes your CS Rating, and players meeting the requirements (an account in good standing, 25 wins, a visible rating at season end) receive that season's medal.

Premier ranks FAQ

What are the CS2 Premier ranks?

Premier doesn't use badge ranks — it uses CS Rating, a number from ~1,000 to 35,000+. The community groups ratings into colour bands: grey (0–4,999), light blue (5,000–9,999), blue (10,000–14,999), purple (15,000–19,999), pink (20,000–24,999), red (25,000–29,999) and gold (30,000+, the leaderboard band).

How do I get my CS Rating?

Win 10 Premier matches to complete placements. Your starting rating comes from your placement performance, then moves up or down after every match based on wins, losses and how convincing the scoreline was.

What is the average CS Rating?

Community trackers put the bulk of players between 5,000 and 15,000, with roughly the 10,000–14,999 blue band the single most common. A rating above 15,000 already puts you in approximately the top third.

Is 20,000 CS Rating good?

Yes — 20,000 (pink) is roughly the top 8.5% of ranked Premier players based on Leetify match data (Season 4, March 2026). 25,000 (red) is about the top 3%, and 30,000+ (gold) is the top 0.6% where regional leaderboards begin.

What Premier season is CS2 on right now?

Season Five (Season 5), which began on 8 July 2026. Valve has not announced its end date — previous seasons have closed alongside a Major roughly six months in, but that is a pattern, not an announcement.

When did Premier Season 4 end?

Season Four ended on 8 July 2026, when Valve's update opened Season Five. It had started on 21 January 2026.

Do Premier ranks reset?

Ratings carry between CS2's Premier seasons but are soft-recalibrated: at a new season you play a reduced set of placement matches and your rating settles quickly, usually near where you left off.
