Check the exact float, paint seed, and pattern of any CS2 item straight from its inspect link — decoded instantly in your browser — or analyze any float value manually below.
Check a Skin From Its Inspect Link
In CS2 or on the Steam Market, right-click an item and copy its inspect link— modern links carry the item's exact float, paint seed, and finish, so nothing is sent to any server to decode them.
Float Value Analyzer
Enter a float value between 0.00 and 1.00 to analyze its wear condition and tier placement.
This is an extremely rare factory new skin with pristine appearance. Highly sought after by collectors.
Distance to boundaries will appear here.
Float Ranges Reference
All CS2 skins fall into one of these five wear conditions based on their float value:
Factory New (FN)
Pristine condition with minimal visible wear. Most expensive and highly desired by collectors.
Minimal Wear (MW)
Very light signs of use. Still highly valued and maintains most of the pristine appearance.
Field-Tested (FT)
Moderate wear visible but skin remains recognizable and visually appealing. Most common range.
Well-Worn (WW)
Heavy wear with significant damage visible. Noticeably aged appearance.
Battle-Scarred (BS)
Most heavily worn condition with maximum battle damage. Cheapest tier but unique aesthetic.
Understanding Minimum & Maximum Floats
Not all skins can achieve the full 0.00-1.00 float range. Each skin design has its own minimum and maximum float values:
Which Wears Each CS2 Skin Can Actually Have
Across the 1,881 skin finishes in our database (snapshot of Sep 26, 2026), only 373 use the full 0.00–1.00 float range. 61 have a minimum float of 0.07 or higher, so they can never be Factory New, and 308 top out at 0.45 or lower, so they never reach Battle-Scarred. Before you check a float, it helps to know which of these groups the skin is in:
| Wears the skin can drop in | Finishes | Most-traded example |
|---|---|---|
| All five (FN to BS) | 1,525 | Desert Eagle | Tilted (0.00–0.75) |
| FN, MW | 136 | Glock-18 | High Beam (0.00–0.08) |
| FN, MW, FT | 91 | MP5-SD | Lab Rats (0.00–0.35) |
| FN, MW, FT, WW | 65 | Tec-9 | Red Quartz (0.00–0.40) |
| MW, FT, WW, BS | 20 | AWP | Pit Viper (0.08–0.50) |
| WW, BS | 19 | Sawed-Off | Fubar (0.40–1.00) |
Skins that can never be Factory New include MAC-10 | Sakkaku (0.21 minimum), AWP | Pit Viper (0.08 minimum), MP5-SD | Neon Squeezer (0.20 minimum), MP5-SD | Savannah Halftone (0.25 minimum) and Tec-9 | Fubar (0.14 minimum). Every skin pageshows that finish's exact float range, and can pull the lowest-float listings currently on the market.
How to Check a Skin's Float
- Copy the inspect link.In your Steam inventory or on a Steam Community Market listing, right-click "Inspect in Game" and copy the link address, or copy it from CS2 itself. Links copied since March 2026 carry the item's data; re-copy an older one.
- Paste it into the checker above. The decoder reads the float, paint seed and finish straight from the link in your browser.
- Compare it with the skin's range.A float only means something against that finish's own minimum and maximum. Enter the number into the analyzer to see its wear band and how close it sits to the next boundary, then check the skin page for its range.
Why Float Value Matters
Visual Appearance
Lower float values look significantly less worn in-game. The difference between a 0.01 and a 0.30 float is immediately noticeable, affecting how your gun looks during gameplay and in demos.
Trading Value
Float value is the primary factor determining skin price within the same condition. A Factory New skin with 0.001 float can command premium prices compared to 0.06 float versions of the identical design.
Low-Float Premium
Ultra-low floats (0.000x-0.001) are extremely rare, and within a wear tier the float is what separates one listing's price from another. On the current price snapshot, the lowest floats of a finish are listed at a premium over ordinary Factory New copies of the same design.
Personal Preference
Many players seek specific float ranges or "lucky numbers" (0.420, 0.690, etc.). Personal aesthetics and superstitions make certain floats more desirable beyond objective rarity.
Condition Distinction
Float determines which wear condition category a skin falls into, which is the primary classification system. This affects everything from availability to demand.
Verification
Float values serve as a unique identifier for each skin instance. Two identical skins will never have the exact same float, making it a form of authenticity marker.
Float Tiers Explained
The collector and trading community uses these informal tiers to describe ultra-precise float ranges:
Extremely rare drops with pristine appearance. Highly sought by serious collectors. Prices can be 5-10x higher than average Factory New.
Very rare low floats with exceptional visual quality. Still command premium prices but more attainable than flawless tiers.
Notably clean floats within their wear condition. Sought after for visual appeal and relative rarity without extreme price inflation.
The average or standard float range. Standard pricing for the wear condition with no special rarity premium.
Higher wear values within conditions. Some collectors seek these for their unique aged appearance or meme value.
Extremely worn appearance, nearly impossible to obtain. Highly collectible for maximum wear aesthetic and extreme rarity.
Float Trading Tips
Frequently Asked Questions
- What is float value in CS2?
- Float value (also called wear value) is a decimal number between 0.00 and 1.00 that represents how worn a skin appears in-game. Lower float values mean the skin looks more pristine, while higher values indicate more visible wear and tear.
- How many wear conditions are there?
- There are 5 wear conditions: Factory New (0.00-0.07), Minimal Wear (0.07-0.15), Field-Tested (0.15-0.38), Well-Worn (0.38-0.45), and Battle-Scarred (0.45-1.00). Some skins may not be obtainable in all conditions.
- Does float value affect skin price?
- Yes, significantly. Lower float values are rarer and more expensive, especially in Factory New condition. A 0.001 float skin can be worth considerably more than a 0.069 float of the same skin design.
- What is "low float"?
- Low float refers to skins with float values in the lower range of their wear condition, making them appear less worn. For example, a Field-Tested skin with 0.15-0.20 float is considered low float within that condition.
- Can all skins drop in Factory New?
- No, some skins have minimum float values higher than 0.00. For example, certain weapon finishes may have minimum floats of 0.05 or higher. Always check the specific skin's float range before trading.
- Why do collectors prefer specific float values?
- Collectors often seek ultra-low floats (0.000x-0.001) or specific numbers (0.420, 0.690, etc.) for rarity and aesthetics. These skins become investment pieces and conversation pieces in the community.
- How do I find a skin's exact float value?
- Copy the item's inspect link from your Steam inventory, a Steam Market listing or CS2, and paste it into the float checker at the top of this page — it decodes the exact float and paint seed in your browser. Float values are permanent for each skin and don't change over time.
