Verified workshop surf maps to learn on

How to start surfing

Surf is CS2's signature movement mode: you ride angled ramps by strafing into them — hold A or D toward the ramp, steer with your mouse, and never press W or S on a ramp. Speed comes from carving down the ramp face and launching cleanly off the end. Start on the Tier 1 maps above until complete runs feel automatic, then climb tiers. The fastest way in is a populated community server — settings are pre-configured and you learn by chasing the players ahead of you. Find one on our live surf server browser, and if you want raw inputs practice, pair it with the workshop training maps.

Surf maps FAQ

How do I play surf maps in CS2?

Two ways: join a community surf server (fastest — see our surf server browser) or subscribe to a surf map on the Steam Workshop and load it from Play → Workshop Maps. Servers handle the settings for you; for workshop maps set sv_cheats 1 and sv_airaccelerate 150 in console.

What are the best surf maps for beginners?

Start on Tier 1 maps: surf_beginner (a staged tutorial in all but name) and surf_utopia are the classic first maps. Once runs feel smooth, move up tier by tier.

What do surf tiers mean?

Tiers rate a surf map's difficulty from 1 (beginner) to 6+ (expert). Tier is set by the mapper/community based on ramp steepness, gaps and required precision. Most servers show the tier in the map vote.

Why is my surf slow or floaty in CS2?

Surf feel depends on server settings, mainly sv_airaccelerate (150 is the community standard). If you load a workshop map locally without setting it, movement feels wrong — community servers configure this for you.
