Souvenir packages are Major-tournament drops that contain gold-sticker Souvenir skins from the map they were earned on. Here's how they work, how to get them, and why sealed packages from old events keep climbing in value.
What Is a Souvenir Package?
A souvenir package is a container tied to a specific Major match and map. Opening one — no key needed — gives you a Souvenir-quality skin from that map's collection, stamped with gold souvenir stickers for the event, the teams that played, and a player from the match. Because the skin pool comes from the map collection rather than a weapon case, souvenir packages are the only source of some skins in Souvenir quality.
How to Get Souvenir Packages
During a CS Major, buying the event Viewer Pass and levelling it up by watching and predicting matches earns souvenir tokens. Each token redeems for one package from a match and map of your choice — since the Rio 2022 Major this replaced the old random viewer drops. Outside of Majors, the only way in is the market: sealed packages from every past event trade on the Steam Community Market and third-party marketplaces.
Why Collectors Care
Every package not opened is supply that never comes back, and packages from retired map collections are the classic example: Cobblestone packages — the only source of the Souvenir AWP Dragon Lore — are among the most valuable containers in the game. If you're weighing a purchase, compare the sealed package price against the odds-weighted value of the collection before opening; our case odds calculator explains the container math, and the case database covers every regular container.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you get souvenir packages in CS2?
Souvenir packages are earned during CS Major tournaments. Since the Rio 2022 Major they come from the event Viewer Pass: levelling up your pass earns souvenir tokens, which you redeem for a package from a match and map of your choice. They can also simply be bought on the Steam Community Market or third-party marketplaces at any time.
What is inside a souvenir package?
A souvenir package contains one Souvenir-quality skin from the collection of the map the package is tied to, with gold souvenir stickers applied — typically the event, the two teams from the match, and a player. The stickers and Souvenir quality are what make these skins distinct from normal drops.
Do souvenir packages need a key?
No. Unlike weapon cases, souvenir packages open for free — no key purchase is required.
Why are old souvenir packages so expensive?
Packages from past events are a fixed supply that only shrinks as people open them. Packages tied to discontinued map collections — most famously Cobblestone, home of the Souvenir AWP Dragon Lore — trade at a large premium because the only remaining supply is unopened packages.
Are souvenir skins worth more than normal skins?
Usually yes for desirable skins: Souvenir quality plus event stickers adds collector value, and some souvenir-only skins (like the Souvenir Dragon Lore) rank among the most expensive items in the game. Low-tier souvenir skins, however, can be worth less than their sticker-free equivalents because they can't be used in trade-up contracts.
