How Our Pricing Works
Every price on this page comes from the Pricempire API, which aggregates live listings from eight marketplaces: Buff163, the Steam Community Market, Skinport, CS.Money, DMarket, BitSkins, CSFloat, and Waxpeer. For each skin and each wear condition, we store the price on every tracked marketplace, and the headline figure you see here uses the Buff163 listing when one exists — it is the deepest venue by trading volume, which makes it the most stable reference — falling back to the lowest price across the other tracked marketplaces when Buff163 has no listing. Open any skin's page and you can see the full per-marketplace breakdown behind its headline number.
Prices here are a snapshot, not a ticker. Our pipeline pulls a fresh Pricempire snapshot on a regular schedule and the site rebuilds around it, so the figures you are reading were fetched on July 13, 2026 and will be replaced by the next snapshot automatically. That design is deliberate: a stable, dated snapshot lets us compute honest aggregates — the averages, distributions, and rankings on this page all come from one consistent dataset rather than a mix of numbers captured at different moments. When you need to know how prices have changed, the market trends page compares this snapshot against a fixed earlier one and names the comparison dates.
Two honest caveats. First, marketplace prices are asking prices — the lowest listing is what a seller wants, not necessarily what buyers are paying, and thinly listed items (rare knives, low-float collectibles) can show quirky numbers when only a handful of listings exist. Second, marketplaces differ structurally: Steam prices run higher because Steam wallet funds cannot be withdrawn, while cash marketplaces price lower to compensate. If you are choosing where to actually buy or sell, our marketplace reviews cover fees, withdrawal rules, and legitimacy for each venue, and the trading guide explains how to move value between them safely.
What Drives CS2 Skin Prices?
Case Discontinuation
When Valve retires a case from rotation, supply decreases and prices often increase. Discontinued skins tend to become more valuable over time as supply dwindles.
Game Updates & Meta
Major weapon balance changes can shift player preference. When a gun gets buffed or nerfed, skins for that weapon often see price fluctuations within hours.
Pro Player Usage
Pro esports players have enormous influence. When a famous player uses a specific skin in a tournament, its popularity and price can spike dramatically.
Float Condition
Factory New (FN) skins are always more expensive than Battle-Scarred versions. The float value (wear condition) can affect prices by a factor of 2x–10x or more.
StatTrak & Souvenir
StatTrak versions (with kill counter) and Souvenir drops from major tournaments are rarer and command significant premiums—sometimes 2–5x the base price.
Rarity Tier
Covert and Classified skins are inherently rarer and more expensive. Consumer and Industrial Grade skins are abundant and cheap, making them perfect for budget collectors.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Where do the prices on this page come from?
- Prices come from the Pricempire API, which aggregates listings from eight marketplaces: Buff163, Steam Community Market, Skinport, CS.Money, DMarket, BitSkins, CSFloat, and Waxpeer. The headline price for each wear uses the Buff163 listing when available (the deepest venue by volume), falling back to the lowest tracked marketplace price otherwise.
- How often do the prices on this page update?
- Prices refresh with each site update rather than in real time — the snapshot shown now was fetched July 13, 2026. Our refresh pipeline pulls a fresh Pricempire snapshot on a regular schedule, so figures here typically reflect the market within a day. Individual skin pages additionally merge a fresher feed at render time.
- What does the 'Sum of Tracked Prices' figure mean?
- It is simply the sum of the highest-wear price of every skin in our snapshot — one copy of each tracked skin at its priciest condition. It is a scale indicator for the dataset on this page, not an estimate of the total CS2 market, which spans billions of individual items.
- What factors affect CS2 skin prices?
- CS2 skin prices are influenced by rarity tier, wear condition (float), whether the skin is StatTrak or Souvenir, case discontinuation, pro player popularity, in-game meta shifts, and overall market supply and demand.
- What is a Factory New skin worth compared to Battle-Scarred?
- Factory New (FN) skins are typically 2–10x more expensive than Battle-Scarred versions of the same skin, depending on rarity and demand. The price difference reflects both aesthetics and collector preference.
- Does this page show price history or charts over time?
- Not yet — this page is a snapshot of current prices. For real price movement, our market trends page compares the current snapshot against a fixed, dated baseline and lists the top gainers and losers. To follow a specific skin, add it to the free price watchlist with a target price and check back.
- Should I invest in expensive skins or cheap skins?
- Investment potential varies. Cheap skins can appreciate quickly if a case is discontinued or a pro uses the skin in-game. Expensive skins (Covert, knives) tend to hold value better but require more capital. Diversification is key — and read our skins investing guide before committing real money.
