Every weapon case ranked by recovery — its ROI, meaning the average skin value you get back per dollar spent opening it (case + the $2.49 key). Every case is a long-term loss, so no case is genuinely profitable; the most profitable case is simply the one that loses you the least, usually thanks to a valuable knife or glove pool. † 26 of these 42 figures are estimates, not measurements. Those cases can drop a plain, un-finished knife — a bare ★ Karambit or ★ Bayonet with no finish on it — and we hold no market price for one. Rather than drop that outcome, we assume it is worth the average of the finishes in the same case we can price. That assumption is not a floor and it is not conservative; we cannot tell you which way it errs, because the missing price is the whole problem. Hover a marked figure for the range those assumptions allow. The other 16 rows carry a real price for every outcome, and for those our number matches the stricter one on our case RTP page to the cent.
Methodology: within a rarity tier every skin drops with equal probability, and within the gold tier every knife or glove finish the case can actually drop does; each outcome is valued at its cheapest listed wear across markets, with StatTrak folded into non-gold drops at the published ~10%; the whole thing is weighted by Valve's container odds. Cheapest-wear buyer prices cut both ways — a real drop can roll a better wear, but selling it back costs market fees this table does not deduct. Try any case risk-free in the case simulator.
