How To Fix CS2 Inventory Unavailable

Many CS:GO traders often run into the issue of being unable to open their item inventory. Players are left wondering, “Why is my CS:GO inventory unavailable?” The error can be infuriating when it happens during a trade.

Fortunately, most of the solutions to the inventory unavailable error follow simple procedures, except for the last one, which is deemed the ultimate solution. Here are five effective methods to fix the CS:GO inventory unavailable problem.

Restart Your Steam Client

One of the most common and straightforward fixes to the issue is quickly restarting your Steam client. By restarting your Steam client, you are reestablishing your connection to the Steam network, which can be a quick way to solve the issue.

To restart your Steam client, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Steam client and move your cursor to the top-left corner.
  2. Click the “Steam” button, and a drop-down menu will appear.
  3. Next, click on the “Exit” button to close Steam entirely.
  4. Re-open Steam like you usually would.

Once all the steps have been completed, you will have restarted your Steam client completely. Check to see if the unavailable inventory issue still persists.

Open Steam On Your Browser Instead

If you cannot open your CS:GO inventory using the Steam client, it is a good idea to try and see if your inventory works in the browser version of Steam. As long as you use the official Steam website link, all functions, such as opening your inventory, will work the same way on the client.

To open Steam on your browser, follow the steps below:

  1. Open your browser of choice and go to the official Steam website. Ensure there is a padlock on the left side of the website.
  2. Next, log in to your Steam account by entering your username and password.
  3. Then, navigate to your Steam inventory like you usually would.

If your inventory is still not loading, refresh the browser page continuously. It can take more than 10-20 page refreshes to have an effect.

Check Steam Server Status

After you’ve tried the first two solutions with no success, the CS:GO inventory unavailable issue might be coming from Steam’s end instead of yours. Steam servers may experience exceeded load from time to time, causing functions like the inventory to slow down or not work at all.

These issues arise when the game is being updated or when a large number of users are performing activities on the platform simultaneously.

That said, it never hurts to quickly check a live update of Steam server statuses, which can be done by opening the steamstat.us website. Though it is unofficial, the SteamDB website will provide live tracking of Steam servers.

The website has a specific CS:GO inventories section, titled “CS Player Inventories”. If the status of player inventories is facing high load, full load, or any other unfavorable conditions, then you will understand that the issue is coming from Steam itself.

Change Your Steam Profile URL Momentarily

If you are still having trouble opening your CS:GO inventory, this next method has the potential to help. A community member found this solution, and though it may sound peculiar, it actually works.

In this method, we are going to temporarily change our custom Steam Profile URL. Do not get it mixed up with your Steam trade offer URL

To temporarily change your Steam Profile URL, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to your own Steam Profile page and click “Edit Profile”.
  2. Under the “General” section, look for the “Custom URL” option.
  3. In the text box provided, temporarily change your Steam Custom URL to something else. You can simply add a letter or number at the end.
  4. Once completed, scroll down and click the “Save” button to apply your changes.

After you are done with the procedure, check to see if your inventory is loading properly. You can immediately change your Custom URL back.

Install The FixCSGOInventory Browser Extension (Google Chrome Only)

The final solution to the CS:GO inventory unavailable issue is to download a GitHub browser extension that only works for Google Chrome. Even if you do not use Chrome as your default browser, you can quickly install it for the sole purpose of opening your CS:GO inventory.

The browser extension is called “FixCSGOInventory” and here is how you can install it:

  1. Open this GitHub link to download the extension.
  2. Then, download and unzip the zip file.
  3. Next, go to your Chrome extensions by going to Tools > Extensions.
  4. Enable the Developer Mode by checking the box in the top-right corner.
  5. Clock on the “Load unpacked extension…” button.
  6. Then, follow this path: directory de > country > fixcsgoinventory.

This browser extension is the most effective solution to fix the CS:GO inventory unavailable issue and has worked for thousands of users.

If the browser extension is unsuccessful, the issue is highly likely caused by the downed Steam servers.
