Economy Rules
- Round Win: $3,250 per player for a win by elimination or the CT timer; $3,500 if the bomb detonates or is defused
- Round Loss: $1,400 for a first loss, rising $500 per consecutive loss to a $3,400 maximum ($1,400 / $1,900 / $2,400 / $2,900 / $3,400). A win moves the counter down one step — it does not reset it — and each half starts one step up, so a pistol-round loss pays $1,900
- Plant Bonus: +$800 per Terrorist if the bomb was planted in a lost round; the planter personally earns +$300 in any round
- Kill Reward: varies by weapon — $300 for rifles and pistols, $600 for most SMGs (P90: $300), $900 for shotguns, $100 for the AWP, CZ75-Auto, and Zeus, $1,500 for a knife kill
- Assists: assists award no money in CS2
- Max Economy: $16,000 per player — income beyond the cap is lost
Frequently Asked Questions
What is economy in CS2?
Economy refers to the team's total money available for purchasing weapons and equipment. Managing economy is crucial for executing strategies and eco rounds.
What is a full buy?
A full buy is when the entire team purchases rifles, armor, and full utility. It costs roughly $4,700–$5,500 per player on the T side (AK-47 + armor + grenades) and $5,500–$5,900 per player on the CT side, where rifles and the defuse kit make rounds structurally more expensive.
What is an eco/save round?
An eco round is when the team saves money by buying minimal equipment. This sacrifices the current round to build economy for the next round.
How much money do you get per kill?
Kill rewards depend on the weapon: $300 for rifles and pistols, $600 for most SMGs (the P90 pays $300), $900 for shotguns, $1,500 for a knife kill, and only $100 for the AWP, CZ75-Auto, and Zeus. Kill money is paid whether the round is won or lost; assists pay nothing.
