Frequently Asked Questions
How does the trade-up finder work?
Every hour we recompute every single-collection trade-up contract: 10 of the cheapest same-rarity skins from one collection, against the average market value of that collection's next-tier skins (each outcome is equally likely in a single-collection contract). Contracts are ranked by expected profit relative to cost.
Why don't I see map-collection skins here?
Since the 22 May 2026 update, Souvenir skins can be used in trade-up contracts — including map collections such as Norse, Canals, St. Marc and Cobblestone — and the output is always a normal-quality skin. Those collections' inputs exist only as Souvenirs, which trade at different prices from the normal-quality prices this scanner uses, so it covers case collections only for now.
Why single-collection contracts?
With all 10 inputs from one collection, the outcome pool is fully deterministic and every next-tier skin is equally likely — so the expected value is exact, not an estimate. Mixing collections can improve odds further; take any base contract into our trade-up calculator to experiment with ratios.
Is expected value guaranteed profit?
No. EV is the long-run average across many contracts — a single trade-up can land on the cheapest outcome. The 'hit chance' column shows the share of outcomes that beat your cost on their own. Never trade more than you can afford to lose to variance.
Why do the numbers differ from what I see in-game?
Prices move constantly and wear matters: we use each skin's cheapest listed wear on both sides, and the output's float derives from your inputs' floats. Before trading, check the actual floats and wear-specific prices of your exact inputs in the trade-up calculator.
Can trade-ups produce knives?
Since the October 2025 update, Covert-tier contracts can output knives from eligible cases — a separate mechanic from the collection contracts listed here, with its own economics.
