AWP CS2 Skins
Counter-Strike's ultimate space-control weapon. One scoped shot to the chest, stomach, or head kills instantly at any range, and the mere knowledge that an AWP is watching a sightline changes how five enemies play the map. It costs $4,750, slows you to 200 units/second, and pays only $100 per kill — power priced accordingly.

AWP in CS2: How It Plays
The AWP is only truly accurate when scoped and stationary — unscoped or moving shots are dice rolls. After each shot the bolt cycle leaves you defenceless for well over a second, so the weapon's real skill is positioning rather than flicking: hold an angle nobody expects, take one shot, and reposition before anyone can trade. The one exception to the one-shot rule is the legs — a leg hit deals heavy but survivable damage, which is why lucky low-ground peeks sometimes live through an AWP shot.
Buy discipline matters more with the AWP than any other weapon. It belongs with a dedicated AWPer on rounds where the team can also afford armor and utility, and it is the one gun you actively save on lost rounds — exiting alive with a $4,750 rifle is worth more than most exit kills. Because dropped AWPs swing games, teams also play around denying the pickup when their sniper falls.

Pro Tips for the AWP
Never re-peek the angle you just shot from — reposition even two metres and the enemy's pre-aim is wrong.
Hold off-angles at unusual widths; the AWP wins any duel where the enemy has to find you first.
Learn to counter-strafe-scope: accuracy returns the instant your velocity hits zero, not when the animation looks settled.
Aim chest height, not head height — the AWP kills to the upper body anywhere, so give yourself the bigger target.
Always plan your exit before you take the shot, and save the gun on lost rounds: $4,750 does not grow back.
Pair with a teammate who covers close range — the AWP is at its worst against a rusher inside 10 metres.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Does the AWP always kill in one shot?
- A scoped hit to the head, chest, stomach, or arms kills at any range through armor. Leg shots are the exception — they deal heavy but survivable damage because the leg multiplier cuts the AWP's 115 base damage below lethal.
- Why is the AWP kill reward only $100?
- The $100 reward (vs $300 for rifles) is a deliberate economic brake. An AWPer who dies trades a $4,750 weapon for almost nothing, so Valve keeps the weapon self-limiting: it dominates space but can't farm money the way SMGs and shotguns can.
- Should I buy the AWP or a rifle?
- Buy the AWP only when the full package fits — weapon, armor, and utility — and when your team has one designated AWPer. A naked AWP with no flashes on an eco-adjacent budget is usually worse than an AK or M4 with full utility. The SSG 08 at $1,700 covers sniper duties on tighter budgets.
- Is the AWP good for beginners?
- It is the least forgiving mainstream buy in CS2. Beginners get more value from rifles while learning positioning; pick up the AWP once you understand angles, counter-strafing, and when to reposition. The Scout (SSG 08) is a cheaper way to practise sniper discipline.
- How much damage does the AWP do in CS2?
- The AWP deals 115 base damage per hit with 97.5% armor penetration. Headshot multiplier is 4x, meaning a headshot deals 460 damage before armor reduction.
- How much does the AWP cost in CS2?
- The AWP costs $4,750 to buy and gives a $100 kill reward. It's available to players on both sides.
- What is the AWP fire rate?
- The AWP fires at 41 rounds per minute (RPM) with a 5-round magazine. Reload time is 3.67 seconds.
- How many skins does the AWP have in CS2?
- The AWP currently has 49 skins available in Counter-Strike 2, ranging across multiple rarity tiers from Consumer Grade to Covert.
