left Command in Counter-Strike
In both Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Counter-Strike 2, any player can toggle the in-game developer console and make use of commands to customize their gameplay for a variety of reasons. Say you want to practice smoke lineups and easily clip through walls to the location your utility should hit? There’s a command for that. Want the round to never end even after multiple hours? It’s definitely possible!
But what if you want to have a cheeky bit of fun and troll your friends or even opponents? Went to the bathroom and don’t want to be kicked for being AFK either? Well the Left Command (otherwise known as the CSGO turn infinitely) is here for you!
How Do You Use The Command?
To use any command in the game, you must first access the in-game developer console which is usually bound to the ~ key on your keyboard. In the event your keyboard doesn’t have this key, you can bind the console to open upon pressing any available button you have. Since playdemo is not considered a cheat command, there is no need to input “sv_cheats 1” on the console. After this, simply type or copy and paste the command “+left” to the console.
By pressing enter, your player model will now rotate left for an unlimited amount of time. To stop this from happening, simply type and paste “-left” in the console to restore default settings.
Does The Left Command Have Any Real Uses?
Surprise, surprise – the answer is yes! Here’s why rotating your camera left goes beyond just a basic function.
Quick, Safe Peeks
Corners are death traps in CS:GO/CS2. The Left Command allows for quick peeks. By quickly enabling it (though for prolonged use, it’s best to bind this to a key for easy enabling and disabling) and back, you can see around the corner without fully exposing yourself. This lets you gather intel on enemy positions before committing to a fight.
Movement
Believe it or not, the Left Command is used in some advanced movement techniques. Left strafing involves moving side-to-side while running, making you a harder target to hit. The Left command allows for precise adjustments during strafes, giving you more control over your movement. Again, this is better done with a keybind for the command instead of manually inputting it through the console.
While its main purpose is still to just ensure your camera turns left forever, the Left Command has a few alternative uses that can even prove to be useful for a round or two.
If There’s A Left Command, Is There A Right Command?
Yes! The Right Command exists, and does exactly what the Left Command does but in the opposite direction. Apart from that, they are both completely similar.
When Can You Use The Command?
The commands “+left” and “-left” can be used inside any game, since it is not a cheat nor does it give you an unfair advantage. It is purely for movement and, realistically, to have a bit of fun while playing.
How Is The Command Used?
The Left Command is used by players who have to go away from their keyboards for an extended period of time but do not want to get kicked for inactivity, since constantly looking left is considered as a movement by the game. It is also used by some for movement purposes, specifically when jumping.
