Understanding Crosshair Parameters
Every CS2 crosshair is defined by a handful of console variables. The style (cl_crosshairstyle) determines whether your crosshair expands during movement and shooting. Style 4 (Classic Static) is fully static — it stays the same size regardless of what you're doing — which is why the vast majority of competitive players use it. Style 5 (Legacy) is the old-school option: static while you move, but it still spreads while firing. Styles 0 and 3 are dynamic, and styles 1 and 2 sit in between.
Size (cl_crosshairsize) controls the length of the four crosshair arms, while gap (cl_crosshairgap) sets the distance between the centre point and where the arms begin. Negative gap values create a tight, compact crosshair popular in professional play. The thickness (cl_crosshairthickness) adjusts the width of each arm — 1 is the most common value among pros (53%).
Color and alpha affect visibility. Green (Color 1) offers strong contrast against the brown, grey, and dark tones of most competitive maps, which is why it is the most-used preset colour among pros; many set a custom RGB value instead. Alpha controls transparency — 255 is fully opaque, while lower values let you see through the crosshair.
What Crosshair Settings Most Pros Use
Across 814 active pros with a crosshair share code in our database (settings as of Sep 18, 2026), 99% run Classic Static, 98% use a negative gap and only 7% turn on the centre dot. The single most common shape — Classic Static, size 1, gap -4, thickness 1, no dot — is run by 245 of them, including 24 of the 78 players on the top 20 teams in the CSDB Team Rating. It is a sensible first build: set those four values in the generator above, then change the colour and size to suit your screen.
| Setting | Most common | 2nd | 3rd |
|---|---|---|---|
| Size (cl_crosshairsize) | 1 (54%) | 2 (15%) | 1.5 (10%) |
| Gap (cl_crosshairgap) | -4 (42%) | -3 (24%) | -2 (7%) |
| Thickness (cl_crosshairthickness) | 1 (53%) | 0 (26%) | 0.5 (6%) |
| Colour | Custom (38%) | Green (31%) | Cyan (24%) |

Crosshair Presets by Style and Colour
Ready-made codes for the most-requested looks, each generated from the settings shown on its page: Dot Crosshair, Small Crosshair, T-Style Crosshair, White Crosshair, Pink Crosshair, Purple Crosshair, Green Crosshair, Yellow Crosshair.
A CS:GO Crosshair Generator Too
CS2 kept CS:GO's crosshair system: the same cl_crosshair console commands and the same share-code format, which still starts with "CSGO-". That makes this a working CS:GO crosshair generator as well: the codes it builds are in the format CS:GO used, and a code you saved from CS:GO pastes straight into the import box above. Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I apply a custom crosshair in CS2?
- Open the console with ~ and paste the crosshair commands. Alternatively, go to Settings → Game → Crosshair and adjust each setting manually. You can also share crosshair codes via the in-game crosshair menu.
- What crosshair do most CS2 pros use?
- Most professionals use small, static crosshairs. The single most common shape in our database (settings as of Sep 18, 2026) is Classic Static, size 1, gap -4, thickness 1, no dot — run by 245 of 814 active pros with a share code. Only 7% use a centre dot.
- Should I use a dynamic or static crosshair?
- Static crosshairs (Style 4, Classic Static) are preferred by competitive players because they never move. Style 5 (Legacy) stays static while moving but still expands when you fire. Dynamic styles (0 and 3) expand to show weapon inaccuracy, which can be helpful for beginners learning spray control.
- What is the best crosshair color for visibility?
- Among active pros, green is the most-used preset colour (31%), while 38% set a custom RGB colour instead. Bright colours contrast well against most map environments; avoid red and dark colours, which blend into common map textures.
- Can I use a dot crosshair in CS2?
- Yes, set cl_crosshairsize 0 and cl_crosshairdot 1. Many AWPers prefer dot crosshairs for precise positioning. You can adjust dot size with cl_crosshairthickness.
