What Sensitivity Do CS2 Pros Actually Use?

The eDPI distribution of active professional CS2 players — median, quartiles, the DPI split and how riflers, AWPers and IGLs differ — computed from publicly published player configs rather than a survey. n = 824 active pros with DPI and sensitivity on file (of 1,011 tracked). 136 retired or inactive players and 50 coaches excluded; 1 active player without a recorded DPI or sensitivity.

Key findings

  1. The median active pro plays at 800 eDPI (n = 824); half the field sits between 707 and 960. The mean (855) is pulled up by a small high-sensitivity tail.
  2. The single most common band is 800–1000 eDPI (40% of players). 55% play at or below 800; only 6% play above 1,200.
  3. AWPers run higher sensitivity than riflers: median 878 eDPI (n = 145) against 800 (n = 534). The AWPer lower quartile (800) sits where the rifler median does.
  4. DPI is effectively a two-way choice: 47% use 400 and 46% use 800; every other DPI value combined is 7%.

IGL is a role bucket, not a weapon: an in-game leader may rifle or AWP. Compare IGL against the whole field rather than against the other two rows.

Sensitivity values are the exact published number; 1.0 at 800 DPI and 2.0 at 400 DPI are the same 800 eDPI, which is why the eDPI chart, not this one, is the comparison that matters. Convert between DPI settings with the sensitivity converter.

Methodology

  1. Cohort: every player in the CSDB pro database whose source status is not Retired or Inactive, excluding coaches — 825 of 1,011 tracked players.
  2. Players with a DPI and in-game sensitivity both above zero are included: n = 824.
  3. eDPI is recomputed as DPI × sensitivity for every player. 7 records carried a stored eDPI that did not match its own DPI × sensitivity; the recomputed value is used.
  4. Role is the primary role bucket (Rifler, AWPer, IGL); “Entry Fragger” is counted as Rifler. Buckets below 30 players are suppressed.
  5. Median and quartiles use linear interpolation (the spreadsheet default); shares are of n, rounded to whole percent.

Limitations

  • This is a snapshot of published configs, not observed play: a player’s public config can lag their actual setting. Each player page carries the date the source last revised it.
  • “Active” means the source lists the player on a live roster; it says nothing about tier, event level or results. No by-team-tier breakdown exists because no tier field exists.
  • Windows pointer speed and mouse acceleration are not modelled; eDPI assumes the Windows default of 6/11 for every player.
  • The cohort skews toward players whose configs are publicly maintained — well-known players are over-represented relative to the full professional scene.
  • Numbers change with every settings sweep. Cite the data date, not the page.
