Operations have always meant innovation and DLC for CSGO. CS2 operation, which emerges with periodic updates, is undoubtedly one of the most important contents of the game. It is possible to see many features active in the game, such as community maps, new cases, new skins, graffiti, and of course new game modes. During the CSGO period, each operation lasted between 2 and 5 months, and a new operation was generally released after 1 month. However, we can say that this process has slowed down a little with CS2. We would like to point out that some operations even take 20 weeks.
The reason why the CS2 community loves operations so much is the addition of new cases and skins to the game. Since these cases and skins were very valuable at first, even casual players could make an intense effort to find the skins. Today, we will examine all the operations that have been added to CS from past to present, one by one. While we talk about the skins and safes included in each operation, we will also take a detailed look at the updates. In this way, you will be able to clearly understand the development of CS2 from yesterday to today. Let’s not delay too much and take a closer look at our CS2 operation guide.
-
Operation Payback
“Operation Payback”, which was released on April 25, 2013, as the season 1 content of CS, stands out with new maps. The fact that this operation was loved by the players so much caused its duration to be extended. The operation, which was expected to end on July 31, 2023, was extended for another month until August 31, 2023. So what exactly has been added to the game with Operation Payback? First of all, 7 new maps available in classic casual mode have been added to the game. These maps are as follows:
- Downtown
- Favela
- Library
- Motel
- Museum
- Seaside
- Thunder
Apart from these maps, you had to pay $5.99 to be included in the content of the operation. After making this payment, you have the chance to collect Operation Payback coins and add them to your inventory permanently. For the first coin, bronze, it is enough to use the battle pass. For silver coin, you must have 10 hours of playing time on the operation maps. Finally, for the gold coin, you need to play for 50 hours on the operation maps.
-
Operation Bravo

The main focus of Operation is the addition of 7 new maps from the Steam Workshop. These new maps could be easily played in competitive and deathmatch game modes. Another important point is that a new safe has been added to the game with the operation. Operation Bravo Case is great content with 15 different skins. We can say that there are knives and many different skins. Additionally, we would like to say that a 16-piece weapon skin update called “Alpha Collection” has been added to the game as part of the operation. The new maps added to the game are as follows:

By the way, we would like to remind you that you should only play operation maps.

Operation Phoenix
Operation Phoenix was presented to players on February 20, 2014. Just like other CS2 operations, this DLC was extended until June 11, 2014, because it was so popular. With this operation, the community’s favorite maps were selected and presented to the game as a special map. We can say that the fact that the Operation Phoenix pass is sold for 2.99 USD has enabled all kinds of players to participate in the event. It also appeared in Operation Phoenix Case for the first time with this update. You can also see the new maps added to the game with the scenario below.

As with every CS operation pass released, Hydra attracts attention with its price policy of $5.99. With this update, maps such as Dust, Aztec, Vertigo, Militia, and Shorttrain have been removed from the game. New maps such as Thrill, Black Gold, and Lite have been added to the game. This map update in particular caused the CSGO community to raise its voice. It would not be an exaggeration to say that Operation Hydra is the update that players dislike the most.
Additionally, with this operation, a Diamond coin was added to the game. Players also encountered a different level system and progressed to obtain these coins. Operation Shattered Web
Valve broke the long silence with Operation Shattered Web after a 2-year break. This operation was added to the game on November 18, 2019, and attracted attention with its new maps and weapon case. Another important point that attracts attention is that the price of Operation has become incredibly expensive. Players who want to purchase this operation must spend exactly $14.99. Previous operations had a price tag of $4.99. Unfortunately, although the players reacted very much to this situation, Valve never gave up on its pricing policy.
Going back to the update, Battle Pass appeared for the first time with this operation. Players liked the Battle Pass because it gave guaranteed skins, graffiti, stickers, and agents. Operation Riptide

However, it is still unknown when the new update will arrive. Going back to Operation Riptide, this update welcomes us with maps, new weapon cases, and many different game modes.
Classically, the price policy is fixed at $14.99. Anyone who wishes can participate in the Operation Riptide coin progress process by purchasing the battle pass. What is Operations in CS2?
CS2 Operation is a major update that adds new maps, skins, cases, stickers and even game modes to the game. At the same time, the battle pass becomes active with these operations. Players earn “stars” by completing various daily and weekly tasks. Then, these stars can be spent in the shop within the operation. In short, we can classify them as intermediate patches that update the game for operations.
In the past, these operations were planned to last between 2 and 5 months. Moreover, new operations were included in the game after a 1-month break. However, with the last 3 operations, Valve has completely moved away from this idea. In fact, with Operation Riptide, we can say that there has not been a new operation for almost 2 years.
How Much Do Operation Battlepasses Cost in CS2?
Unfortunately, we do not have a statement from Valve about the CS2 Operation update. We can still comment on previously released Operations. When the Operation update first appeared, it was sold for $4.99. However, with the last 3 operations, Valve made a serious update in its pricing policy. Accordingly, we would like to say that the price increased to $14.99. As a matter of fact, we think it would be important to remind you that this pricing is from 2 years ago. Frankly, the price may have increased slightly with a new operation. We hope that the price will either remain stable or, if possible, be pushed even lower. Because in this way, people from all budgets will be able to participate in the events.
