The Best CS2 Public Servers

Counter-Strike 2 has recently been released – which has resulted in the removal of CS:GO from the Steam store. This change has affected CS:GO’s popular community server scene, as server owners are now working to transition their CS:GO community servers to CS2.

Although the CS2 community isn’t quite as big as CS:GO’s just yet, there are still numerous community servers available for you to join. Here, we’ll look at all the different CS2 public servers and how to join them.

How to Join CS2 Community Servers

Joining a CS2 community server is pretty straightforward:

  • 1: Launch CS2 through Steam.
  • 2: Click on the ‘Play’ button at the top of the screen.
  • 3: Look for the ‘Globe’ icon next to ‘Practice’ and click on it.
  • 4: In the menu on the left, click on the ‘Internet’ tab.
  • 5: From the dropdown menu at the top of the window, select ‘Counter-Strike 2.’
  • 6: Click on the ‘Search’ button on the right. Once clicked, this button will change into a cross, which lets you stop the search.

You’ll then see a list of available servers. You can use filters to sort them by map, latency, player count, and more. Once you find a server you like, you just need to double-click on it to join.

How to Join CS2 Community Servers via Console

You can join CS2 community servers using the developer console. First, check that you have the server address and the console enabled in CS2.

Once the console is enabled and you have the server address, press the “~” key to open the console. Type ‘connect’ followed by the server address, then press “Enter”. This should then connect you to the server as long as there are empty player slots.

For example: connect cs2dmffa.datho.st:26446

Finding CS2 Community Servers

Discovering CS2 community servers can be done in various different ways. One method is to search for them on Reddit and other such social media platforms. The main CS and CS2 subreddits are fantastic for connecting with like-minded players and finding new community servers.

Whether you’re interested in skin servers, surf servers or deathmatch servers, Reddit offers all sorts of options. What’s more, conducting a Google search can also come up with great results. Dedicated websites and organizations, such as Xplay.gg, are also excellent for looking for CS2 community servers.

Adding CS2 Community Servers to Favorites

As the number of CS2 community servers keeps on growing, finding your favorite servers can get tricky. The good news is that you can easily mark your preferred servers and save them for future sessions without needing to try to find them all over again.

To add a server to your favorites, simply right-click on the desired server and select the ‘Add server to favorites’ option. You’ll then be able to quickly access the server page from the “Favorites” tab whenever you want.

Different Types of CS2 Community Servers

Community servers have always been massively important in CS:GO – and with the launch of CS2, it was inevitable that they would start to emerge for its successor. There are already lots of types of CS2 community servers online – with these being some of the most popular.

Retake Servers

Retake mode was hugely popular in CS:GO – with CS2 being a natural progression. In Retake, Terrorists spawn at one of the bomb sites, with the C4 automatically planted. Counter-Terrorist forces will then need to navigate their way to defuse the bomb while Terrorist forces defend the site. What sets Retake mode apart is that players can’t buy weapons as they would in a regular match.

Retake servers are just based on post-plant scenarios, which means great practice in one area of the game that is normally tough to train effectively.

Deathmatch Servers

Deathmatch servers are all about straightforward Deathmatch gameplay. Community deathmatch servers are different from Valve servers because they can accommodate more players, which means even more pace and speed over shorter durations. These servers usually run for hours, so you can join and leave at your leisure. Spawn protection is usually disabled, so community DM servers are perfect for warming up or refining your aiming skills. You should approach these servers as warmups or training sessions rather than focusing on achieving a high kill/death ratio or winning the game, as that’s not what their purpose is.

These community servers give you the chance to inspect various skins free of charge without being interrupted by other players. Here, you can examine your favorite skins before deciding whether you want to make a purchase or not. You can do this by generating an inspect code, copying the inspect link, or choosing the skin directly on the server.
