mp_team_timeout_max
If you are hosting your own private server or matches, and you want to set the maximum number of timeouts each team will get during the game, you need to use the command mp_team_timeout_max.
Also known as the CSGO team limit command for timeouts, we’ll guide you through its usage and provide practical examples on how to apply it.
What is the mp_team_timeout_max Command?
The default value for this command is “1,” and you can choose any value starting from 0. If you prefer a game without timeouts, you’d use the command mp_team_timeout_max 0. If you want to allow five timeouts, it would be mp_team_timeout_max 5.
This command works on both the server and client side, and it doesn’t require to enable sv_cheats, because it doesn’t alter the mechanics of the game.
You can use this command in CS:GO and CS2 without restrictions, so you can customize your private server and matches. Evidently, you need to be the admin to execute this command.
How to Use the Command mp_team_timeout_max
Here is how you can use the command via console to set the maximum number of timeout per team during the match:
- Press the key “~” to launch the console
- Decide the number of timeouts for each team
- Type in the command mp_team_timeout_max “X”
- Press enter
- Each team will get the specified number of timeouts
You need to replace the “X” with the number of timeouts. For example, if you only want to allow 2 timeouts per team, the command would look like this. mp_team_timeout_max 2.
After typing in the command, the number of timeouts will remain the same unless you enter it again with another value such as mp_team_timeout_max 1, which would reset it back to default.
If you want practical examples of how to use this command for specific purposes, you’ll find the information you need below.
Examples on How to Use the Command
Let’s explore different examples on how to use mp_team_timeout_max, so you can implement it today to customize your gameplay experience.
No timeouts
To play without any interruptions, simply input the command like this: mp_team_timeout_max 0. This sets the number of timeouts per team to zero, ensuring continuous action without any breaks.
Just one timeout
This is the default value of the command, and it sets the number of timeouts to only one per team during the match. If you assigned another value and you wish to revert back to default, simply type in the command like this: mp_team_timeout_max 1.
Two timeouts
If you consider that your team might eventually need a couple of timeouts, you need to type in the command like this: mp_team_timeout_max 2. This sets the number of timeouts per team to two, bringing each team the chance for a break without massively interrupting the course of the game.
Three timeouts
If you want to bring each team a generous number of timeouts, you can opt for this option. By inputting mp_team_timeout_max 3 via console, you will set the number of timeouts to 3 per team during the game.
Four timeouts
If you want to set the number of timeouts per team to 4, just type in the command like this via console: mp_team_timeout_max 4. Each team will get the chance to get a break 4 times during the match.
Five timeouts
For bringing each team the chance to use up to 5 timeouts during the game, type in the following command: mp_team_timeout_max 5.
Plenty of timeouts
You can assign as many timeouts as you wish, because the command hasn’t set a limit for it. Here you have a list of examples:
- 10 timeouts per team: mp_team_timeout_max 10
- 15 timeouts per team: mp_team_timeout_max 15
- 20 timeouts per team: mp_team_timeout_max 20
- 50 timeouts per team: mp_team_timeout_max 50
This would greatly diminish the gameplay experience by opening the game up to potential abuse of timeouts. However, it illustrates the point we want to make: you can assign as many timeouts as you wish thanks to this command.
