Did you know that you can control the maximum amount of money each user can have at once  in CS:GO and CS2 matches? You can do this by using the mp_maxmoney command, which enables you to adjust the economic settings of your server and matches to suit your preferences precisely.

Be it that you want users to have a maximum of 60,000 money, or as little as 1,000, you can do it thanks to the max money CSGO command.

We will introduce you to this command, teach you how to input it via the console and bring you practical examples on how you can use it.

What is the mp_maxmoney Command?

It is a command that allows you to set the maximum amount of money each player can have at once in CS:GO and CS2. Its argument is the maximum amount of money you want to set, and the values range from 0 to 65,535, and the default value is 16,000. This is why it’s also widely known as the max money CSGO command.

When you enter the command as follows, mp_maxmoney 0, it sets the maximum money for all players to zero simultaneously. While it offers flexibility, there are technical limitations to consider: it’s impossible to allocate more than 65,535 money. For example, if you type in the command mp_maxmoney 70000, it simply won’t work.

It’s worth noting that this command doesn’t require you to activate sv_cheats 1 beforehand. You input it via the console directly and it will have immediate effect.

This feature allows server hosts and admins to finely adjust the economic dynamics of matches. By limiting the purchasing power of players, you can effectively control the difficulty level of the gameplay, whether you aim to intensify or ease the overall experience.

It’s also available for you in private matches against bots. You can use it for training in order to forget about the economic limitations of the game by assigning as much money as you need. However, it’s forbidden on most servers and online matches.

As shown, it’s a multi-faceted command that allows you to customize the gameplay from the economic side. As such, it’s one of the most popular commands in CS:GO and CS2 for private matches, both online and LAN.

Below, you will find several examples on how to use this command to customize the game’s economy to your preferences.

Examples on How to Use the mp_maxmoney Command

Let’s explore the different ways you can use this command to set the maximum money for players in CS:GO and C2 matches by checking real examples.

Set it to zero money

If you want to practically destroy the purchasing power of players during the match, you need to input the command like this: mp_maxmoney 0. It will set the maximum money that players can have at once to zero. So, it will be a knife-only match.

Set it to 1,000 money

If your plan is to set the maximum cash players can have at once to 1,000 money, you only need to input the command like this via the console: mp_maxmoney 1000. It will immediately allow users to have a maximum of 1000 money at a time during the match.

This will limit the players’ budget to purchasing pistols like the USP, Desert Eagle and R8 Revolver, making it a pistol and knife only match, with a sprinkle of grenades like a decoy, smoke or flashbang.

Set it to 5,000 money

If you want to limit the purchasing power of players to a reasonable level, you can set it to 5,000 money by typing in this command: mp_maxmoney 5000. This will allow players to have a maximum of 5,000 money at once.

Now players will be able to buy multiple grenades and ammo, any pistol, SMG or rifle of their choice including the AWP, and the majority of the heavy weapons.

Set it to 12,000 money

If it’s your choice to set the maximum money to 12,000, you need to type in the command like this: mp_maxmoney 12000. While it’s still below the standard value of 16,000 maximum money, it’s still enough to buy any weapon of your choice.

Set it to 20,000 money

If you want players to have more money than the usual limit of 16,000, you can bump it up by 25% to 20,000. Just type in the command: mp_maxmoney 20000. You will bring the player plenty of purchasing power.

Set it to 30,000 money

If you want to increase the limit even further, you can go ahead and bump it up by 87.5% to 30,000 money. Just input the command like this via the console: mp_maxmoney 30000. Now players will have a lot more purchasing power during the match.

Set it to maximum money possible

If you want to set the value to the maximum the game allows, you need to input the command like this: mp_maxmoney 65535. Players will now be able to have 65,535 money at once, bringing them practically infinite money in practice.

Reset it to default settings
