mp_damage_headshot_only
In both Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Counter-Strike 2, any player can toggle the in-game developer console and make use of commands to customize their gameplay for a variety of reasons. Say you want to practice smoke lineups and easily clip through walls to the location your utility should hit? There’s a command for that. Want the round to never end even after multiple hours? It’s definitely possible!
Now, what if what you are really looking for is to make the average competition amongst your friends or teammates in private servers even more challenging? There is also a command that negates any sort of damage to a player when hit, except in the head. This is called the headshot only command.
How Do You Use The Command?
To use any command in the game, you must first access the in-game developer console which is usually bound to the ~ key on your keyboard. In the event your keyboard doesn’t have this key, you can bind the console to open upon pressing any available button you have. After this, simply type or copy and paste the command “mp_damage_headshot_only” to the console.
Before hitting the enter key, however, you must input either 0 or 1 after the command itself to toggle whether or not the server will ignore any win conditions for the round. A value of 1 will put the command into place and make the current game “headshots only” with any other hit to the body feel like a flick of dust, even with the mighty AWP. By typing a value of 0 after the command, the command will be disabled and the game will once again allow damage to be received on other parts of the body. When creating a new private match, the headshot only command is disabled by default.
When Can You Use The Command?
The command “mp_damage_headshot_only” can only be used in private servers, not in official matchmaking or competitive play. Having this command accessible in a real match would make the already challenging experience of playing Counter-Strike even harder as the margins of error on each shot will increase tenfold.
How Is The Command Used?
The headshot only command is used by players who want to practice their precision or to simply have a bit of challenging fun. In certain community servers such as those that host 1v1 duels, deathmatches, or solo aim servers, the headshot only command may be turned on at certain points to give players a bigger challenge.
