net_fakelag
Are you on a bad internet connection or you want to practice with bots as if it were a competitive match
How to Use the net_fakelag Command to Fake Lag in CS2/CS:GO
You can use this command in matches against bots to mimic a real competitive match, to hone your skills and get yourself ready for the real game. This is especially useful if you’re a beginner, as this will improve your FPS abilities.
You can also use this command when you are on a bad internet connection. This command will make the latency consistent and predictable, which is much better than random latency.
For example, it’s much better to play with a latency of 50ms that remains consistent than to play with a latency of 20ms that suddenly increases to 70ms, and then comes back down to 20ms. This would kill your gaming experience, hence it’s a better choice to make the lag consistent by typing in the command net_fakelag in the console.
Here’s how you can use this command:
- Launch the console by clicking the key “~”
- Decide how much fake lag you want to experience, expressed in milliseconds
- Type in the command net_fakelag “how-much-lag-you-want”
- Press enter
- Enjoy the fake lag
Examples on How to Use the Command
For example, if you want to fake lag with a latency of 50ms, here’s how the command would look: net_fakelag 50. You can assign any value you wish.
If you want to experience crazy lag, then you can use the command net_fakelag 200, and it will set the latency to 200ms.
If you want to fake lag to reasonable levels, then you can use the command net_fakelag 40, and it will mimic the standard conditions of a competitive match.
