Lots of players willing to improve will tend to do solo practice, whether it’s figuring out new smoke lineups or learning how to place their crosshairs and aim.
When players load into a private server to practice, they usually use the mp_roundtime CS2 command to extend the round duration and make it longer. If these players do not change the round time, every round will end in 2 minutes, hindering their practice sessions since the round will restart and send them back to spawn.
In this guide, we’ll explain the definition of the mp_roundtime command, how to use it, and include real examples to help you understand the command better.
What is the mp_roundtime Command?
The default round timer is close to 2 minutes and can be changed to more by using this command. Keep in mind that the mp_roundtime command only works on private servers!
Usually, players look to increase the round time to practice in their private servers. The maximum round timer is 60 minutes.
Alternatively, others may want to decrease the round timer if they play a mini-game with their friends.

If you want to input the mp_roundtime command, you must have your developer console enabled and be loaded into your private server.
There are two types of mp_roundtime commands:

- mp_roundtime_hostage (for Hostage Rescue game modes)
On most common maps, such as Mirage, Dust II, and Inferno, you play in the Bomb Defusal game mode. On maps like Office or Agency, you play in the Hostage Rescue game mode.
To use the command using the console, follow the steps below:

You must restart the game to apply the changes, or the round timer will not change. You do not need the sv_cheats 1 command to change the round timer, as it is not a cheat command.
Changing Round Timer On Hostage Rescue Maps
On Hostage Rescue maps, the steps to changing the round timer are very similar.
For this example, I will change the round timer to 15 minutes on a Hostage Rescue map. Here is a step-by-step example of how to do it:
