When you’re playing a regular game of Counter-Strike, it is inevitable that you will have to buy weapons to play rounds out. However, we all know that there is a time limit where you can buy your weapons in the buying phase. 

Sometimes, you might forget to buy an extra flashbang, and once you walk back to base, the time would have run out already. This issue can also be extremely annoying in practice sessions, when you just want to buy a different weapon to practice your spray patterns.

Fortunately, Valve has created a command that allows players to extend the buy time for convenience purposes. In this article, we’ll teach you all you need to know about the CSGO buy time command.

What Is The mp_buytime Command In CSGO?

As the name of the command might suggest already, the mp_buytime command is used to allow players to change the duration of the buying period in a game of Counter-Strike. 

In a regular game of Counter-Strike, players are able to open the buy menu during the 15-second freeze time at the start of every round, and they will also have an additional 15 seconds to open the buy menu. 

How To Use The CSGO Buy Time Command

Using the CSGO buy time command is incredibly easy. However, you must remember that the command is only accessible in private servers where you are the host of the server. This means the command cannot be used on official Valve matchmaking servers!

Here is a step-by-step guide of how you can use the mp_buytime command in CSGO:

1. Open your developer console by pressing the tilde key (~) on your keyboard.
2. Next, type the command: mp_buytime [value]. You can replace the value with a number, which will be the duration of the CSGO buy time command. 
3. After everything is set, hit your Enter key.
4. However, you must also restart the game to put the command into effect. You can do this by typing in the command: mp_restartgame 1.

Examples Of Using The CSGO Buy Time Command

It is important to note that you can change the value of the buy time command to determine how long the buy period will last. You can choose any number between 1 to 9999, where these will be the number of seconds the buy period will last.

For example, you are trying to practice your spray patterns on a private server, and you don’t know how long it will take. The most convenient way of using the mp_buytime command is to use the value 9999, which essentially gives you unlimited time to open the buy menu.

If you want to set the value to the maximum, which is 9,999 seconds, or 166 minutes, then you can type in the command: mp_buytime 9999. 

After entering the command, don’t forget to restart the game with the command: mp_restartgame 1.

Commands To Use With The mp_buytime Command

Having unlimited buy time will feel good, as you won’t have to restart or end rounds to buy another weapon later on. However, the command is most effective when other commands are paired up with it. 

Here are some commands you should use alongside the mp_buytime command:

• mp_startmoney 60000: This command will allow you to start each round with $60,000, allowing you to buy any of the weapons you want.
• mp_maxmoney 60000: This command changes the maximum amount of money a player can carry from $16,000 to $60,000, allowing you to buy any of the weapons you want.
• mp_buy_anywhere 1: This command allows you to open the buy menu from anywhere on the map, not limited to your spawn point. This is an amazing command to use with the mp_buytime command.
• mp_roundtime_defuse 60: If you want unlimited time on your buying period, you also want as much time as possible on the regular rounds itself. This command changes the round duration to 60 minutes.
• mp_restartgame 1: After entering all the commands mentioned above, never forget that you must restart the game for the commands to take effect.
