What Are Workshop Maps CS2?

In the Counter-Strike workshop, maps have been a vital part of the game. Workshop maps are custom maps and levels which are designed by players using the in-game level editor. These can range from custom competitive maps, custom map modes and even user-generated maps that allow you to practice your aim.

This is thanks to the Steam Workshop which was created by Valve, who are the developers of the Counter-Strike game. The Steam Workshop platform allows players to download and upload custom maps and content. It provides a solid hub allowing for freedom and community creation, players can share their content, map file and game mode with ease.

Custom workshop maps allow players to experience CS2 in a fresh outlook, offering fresh alternatives to map choices and even game modes. They often add a fresh competitive outlook as not all players no the correct spots or even utility spots for that competitive edge.

Steps-By-Step To Play Workshop Maps

Due to the update that was released on November 2nd, Valve finally issued the update that added workshop support for CS2, which was ever so popular in the original Global Offensive.

Simply follow these steps to play Custom Maps and a Workshop Map in CS2:

  1. Open Counter-Strike 2 and go to the ‘Play’ menu.
  2. Select The Steam Workshop option
  3. Here you can see all the community custom maps.
  4. Once subscribed to a map. You can return to CS2, and in the Workshop Maps tab, you will be able to see all the workshop maps that you are subscribed to. Subscriptions essentially mean downloads.
  5. You can create a lobby and play CS2 custom maps with your friends or solo.

CS:GO Custom Workshop Maps in CS2?

Unfortunately, this CS2 Workshop does not cross over with CS:GO and vice versa. They are two separate workshops as the two games essentially play on a different engine.

The CS2 Workshop is ever-growing with around 1,700 maps on offer, many creators are converting all the maps from CSGO into CS2 allowing you to reap the same experience as the original CS:GO.

If you are unable to find a specific custom map or game modes don’t panic, there is a good chance that it will be added in the future, with content creators continuing to port their maps over time.
