What Is ADR In CS2?

There are many ways to measure a player’s performance and impact in a game of Counter-Strike 2, whether it’d be kills or other ratios. However, most players in the community agree that ADR is one of the most prominent statistical indicators in the game to measure how well a player is doing in a match. In this article, we’ll discuss what ADR stands for and everything you need to know about it.

What is ADR CSGO?

In Counter-Strike, the “ADR” abbreviation stands for “Average Damage Per Round.” As the phrase suggests, ADR is calculated by taking the total amount of damage dealt by a player divided by the number of rounds played in the game.

For example, if you have dealt 1,800 damage at the end of a match that ended 13-7, your ADR for that game would be 90.

This statistical metric can be increased by dealing more damage in the game, which can be done through getting kills or using a practical utility such as grenades and molotovs. If you are posting more ADR, then you are likely to have more impact on the game.

Why is ADR important?

It is widely agreed that ADR is a more accurate representation of performance than kills. Let’s use an example:

  • Player A has dealt 1,300 damage and has 17 kills.
  • Player B has dealt 2,000 damage but only has 12 kills.

If kills were used as the primary metric to measure performance, then Player A would seem more impactful than Player B. Sure, Player A has more kills but deals significantly less damage than Player B.

Based on the information provided above, we can already conclude that Player B is dealing way more damage in rounds, which can translate to a high assist count and potentially good usage of HE grenades and molotovs. As a result, most websites prefer using damage numbers over kills or KDR to judge a player’s impact in a specific game.

In Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, players were often ranked by the number of kills on the scoreboard. However, in Counter-Strike 2, Valve has changed the primary measurement to damage dealt, supporting the argument that damage and ADR are the best statistical indicators in the game.

How to see ADR in CS2

You can quickly check the ADR statistics for all players in a Counter-Strike game using the scoreboard.

Here is a step-by-step guide to how you can see your current ADR in a match:

  1. Open the scoreboard by holding the “TAB” key.
  2. Right-click your mouse to enable the cursor.
  3. Then, click on the chart icon located in the top-right corner of the scoreboard.
  4. You will see a list of additional statistics. Look for the “ADR” section and see the numbers listed.

What is a good ADR?

Based on community opinions and statistics posted by professional players, you can use the information below as a general reference to measure how well you are doing depending on your ADR:

  • 59 and below: You are not performing well.
  • 60 – 79: You are having an average game.
  • 80 – 99: You are performing very well.
  • 100 and above: You are putting your team on your shoulders.

It is very accurate that an ADR of 100+ in a Counter-Strike game means you are carrying your team really hard. Since each player has 100 health, you are essentially getting a kill every round, which is incredible. You will see people making a big fuss if a professional player drops 100+ ADR in an important Playoff match.
