Is CS2/CSGO Available on PlayStation 5?

We all know that Counter-Strike is the most superior first-person shooter game on PC, but there are other gaming platforms as well, namely consoles, with the best example being the PlayStation 5. With the release of Counter-Strike 2, the new game has attracted new players who would like to give the game a shot, but can console players launch CS2 on the PlayStation 5?

Is CS2 Featured On The PS5?

Unfortunately, Counter-Strike 2 is not available on the PlayStation 5. Counter-Strike is strictly only available on the Steam platform for PC users, meaning you can only play the game with a computer, a mouse, and a keyboard.

However, it is entirely possible to play Counter-Strike 2 with a PlayStation 5 controller, as the game fully supports joystick controllers. However, you must plug in your controller to a computer, as it is impossible to run the game on a PlayStation. This is the only alternative if you want to play Counter-Strike with a PlayStation controller.

Can You Play CS2 On Other Consoles?

Similar to the PS5, you cannot play Counter-Strike on any other consoles officially. This means it is not available on the Xbox either. However, the game’s sequel, Counter-Strike Global Offensive, was initially available on the PlayStation and Xbox during its initial release in the early 2010s.

Still, this idea was long abandoned by Valve, who focused on improving Counter-Strike as a PC game. As we’ve mentioned earlier, you can still play the game on a joystick controller, but it is not available on other console platforms at all.

You might be able to find an old copy of Counter-Strike when it was available on the console. Sure, you can download it and run the game properly, but you will be forced to play only in offline mode, as it will be impossible to join online servers with real players.

Will CS2 Be Released In Consoles In The Future?

In the next 5 years, probably not. Valve has a lot on their plate with the release of Counter-Strike 2. Even though the game has been out for over a year, there are still many bugs and issues that have to be addressed in the near future.

Valve has essentially dropped the idea of Counter-Strike being played on console, as they have shifted their focus only to PC support. So, you shouldn’t expect Counter-Strike to be available anytime soon.

However, Valorant has become a major competitor to Counter-Strike, and they are implementing a mobile version of the game. If Valorant does integrate its game to consoles, Valve might want to extend its competition to the console market, but this is still a bit of a stretch and will likely not happen.
