Camera Commands

Aside from trying your hardest in Premier matches, there are more things to do in Counter-Strike, such as making frag movies or practicing your grenade lineups. These two activities involve the use of the camera in CS2, which can be enhanced by using a handful of useful camera commands available in the game. To ensure you have the best camerawork possible in CS2, let’s go over the most useful camera commands available in the game.

Camera Commands For Video Making

If you’re trying to make a video, whether it be an analysis of a professional match, or a frag movie of your own clips, it never hurts to know a couple of camera commands that can make the end result much better. Here are some camera commands for video making.

demoui

The first command isn’t directly a camera command, but is an incredibly useful one. The demoui command will open up a menu that will help you navigate through the replay demo. This menu allows you to skip rounds, go to specific ones, and fast-forward the gameplay.

sv_cheats 1

This command is also not a camera command, but is required to use the camera commands we will highlight below. Remember that the sv_cheats 1 command can only be used in a private server or a private demo session.

fog_enable 0

This command is used to clear all the fog in a demo replay, which will make your screen and camera much clearer since there are fewer things obstructing vision. The fog_enable 0 command will ensure your game looks crisp and clean.

fog_override 1

The fog_override command is a follow-up to the previous command, and simply clears out more fog particles in the game which help your camera look cleaner overall.

cl_draw_only_deathnotices 1

This camera command is one of the most important ones when making a clean video, as this command will clear out everything in the user interface and will only display the crosshair and the kill feed.

This means there will be no HUD elements, allowing you to create absolutely clean frag movies where the screen isn’t cluttered. This helps the viewer focus on the gameplay itself without many distractions.

mat_postprocess_enable 0

This camera command will clear out most of the darkness and dim lighting around the game, which will help make your camera and screen look much brighter and more appealing. This command essentially makes the gameplay at hand easier on the eyes and much brighter.

fov_cs_debug 110

This camera command allows you to go over the maximum allowed FOV value, which is 68, and go to any value you’d like. This makes the gun barrel on a player’s hand extend far away, creating cool cinematic effects. We suggest using a value of 110, but you can always adjust it by changing the numbers.

cam_command 1

If you want to make some interesting frag movies, you can also use the cam_command 1 command, which essentially changes the camera view from first-person to third-person, just like PUBG. You can also use this command to play a fun practice game against your friends.

c_thirdpersonshoulder 1

Instead of using a regular third-person view like the previous command, you can use c_thirdpersonshoulder 1 to give you a third-person view of your shoulder position, so the screen is much closer up and a little more realistic. You can try adding some transitions with this command and implementing them in your video.

Camera Commands For Grenade Practice

Aside from trying to make frag movies, camera commands can also be used to help you practice your grenade lineups. There is a new command in CS2 that allows you to view a picture-in-picture screen of your grenade’s trajectory as it is being thrown in the air. Of course, this command can only be used on a private server and will not work in online games.

sv_grenade_trajectory_prac_pipreview 1

The first grenade command is the main one, which is used to create a trail that follows the grenade as it is in the air, but will also display a picture-in-picture preview of where the grenade is headed.

This grenade camera will be displayed on the side of your screen, allowing you to understand the entire pathing of it. This camera allows you to see where the grenade lineup went wrong, and how to fix it for the next attempt.

sv_grenade_trajectory_prac_trailtime 15

This is a follow-up command to the previous picture-in-picture command. This command is used to adjust how long the camera is displayed for on your screen. We have set the value to 15 as a placeholder, which means the camera and trail will be displayed for 15 seconds before disappearing. You can always change how many seconds you would like it to be displayed for.
